I have always wondered what it would feel like to make my own beauty products at home. When I found this avocado hair conditioning recipe in a magazine I was really keen to test it out. Lucky for me, I had an avocado that was ready to say bye-bye (too ripe for my liking). Ingredients:
- 1 Ripe avocado
- 2 Tbs natural yogurt
- 2 Tbs honey
Mix all the ingredients together to form a smooth paste. Take a shower and shampoo as normal. Once you are out of the shower, slop the mask onto your damp hair and comb it through to make sure it is evenly applied. Cover your head with a shower cap and leave on for 20 + minutes. Rinse clean.
Truth be told, the results were nothing special. Maybe I need to try it a couple of more times? The magazine article does say to apply weekly. It is supposed to help restore moisture and shine and repair damage caused by the sun, saltwater, and chlorine. Something that all of us Dubai gals face daily. Either way, it’s a great way to put avocado’s that are going in the bin to use. Avo’s are expensive in Dubai! Every time I buy the cheapy ones from Kenya at Carrefour they never seem to ripen or get soft. In that case blend them up and whip that natural green goodness into your locks. Worth a shot right?

Thanks to Better Homes & Garden for the great recipe. I must sneakily add that I snapped a pic of their pic with my own homemade hair mask just for your info:) I don’t want to be infringing any bad rules, that wouldn’t be cool:)
