Festive Santa Initial Letters

I find inspiration from all over when it comes to craft time (who am I kidding I LOVE Pinterest). This one however, was from a post I saw a friend on Facebook share a few weeks back. She made similar letters (pictured below) with her children. I gathered whatever materials I had at home (minus the wooden letters) and put together my own creation and got the kids crafting. The painting bit kept them quiet and entertained for a good 10 minutes ++.

 What you Need:

  • Wooden letter
  • Red felt
  • Cotton wool OR white paint
  • Black felt OR black ribbon
  • Gold paint OR yellow felt
  • Red paint
  • Paintbrush OR sponge
  • Hot glue gun
  • White glue OR glue stick
  • ScissorsIMG_0580

Instructions:

  1. Paint one coat of red paint entirely over your letter. Once dry apply a second coat. Set aside to dry
  2. Cut a triangle shape for Santa’s hat
  3. Glue a small cotton ball on the tip of the hat and a small strand along the bottom of the hat
  4. Using a hot glue gun, glue the hat to the left corner of your letter
  5. Line the bottom of your letter with cotton OR white paint (make it “fluffy”)
  6. Take a piece of black felt OR black ribbon and make a “belt” across the center of the letter. Glue firmly in back
  7. Either paint a gold “buckle” or cut out a square shape outline and glue to middle of black belt
  8. Prop up for Christmas decor OR hang on tree as an ornament
